Cowell signs up all 'X Factor' finalists

Quote:

Simon Cowell has reportedly signed all four X Factor finalists to record deals via his SyCo label.

Alongside a guaranteed deal for X Factor winner Matt Cardle, it is believed Cowell has now also signed up Rebecca Ferguson, Cher Lloyd and his own group, One Direction.

"Simon's always said he wants feisty characters who know what type of artist they are," a source told the Daily Star. "And he certainly has that in Cher, Rebecca, and One Direction."

Cowell's deal with Cher Lloyd is rumoured to involve a clause permitting Will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas to act as creative director on the young singer's album.

The reports, if true, would mark the first time that every act to appear on the show's final has received a record deal with the label.
This story has appeared a few times now and I'd say it's probably true, the persistant rumours tend to be correct.

Good for them, there was alot of talent and very varied acts this year

Tom4784 15-12-2010 01:19 PM

Yeah, definitely the finalists with the most potential yet.

The charts in 3 or 4 years time could to be dominated by x factor contestants.

pinkmichk 15-12-2010 03:27 PM

whats the point in having the competition if they all get a signed

I'm not so sure. There's a backlash already and that will grow. We'll have to see what happens.

Simon can sign them up if he wants to as it's Syco that provides the contracts. They can't sign a contract from another record company for three months though I think unless it's a co-operative deal with Syco.....I think.

I don't think it'll be a situation that'll happen again really, I think this year's top 4 are a special case.

King Gizzard 15-12-2010 03:45 PM

So much for it being about the winner as he kept harping on about 24/7

Kind of makes the whole idea of the competition in the show pointless

I agree, i also think it takes the drive/hard work/passion out of some of the contestants in the contest as well. When all Cher, One Direction and Rebecca went out there wasn't really an air of disappointment from any of them, you'd expect them to be absolutely gutted but it was more so 'oh well, im getting signed up anyway, stuff winning the comp'

Jords 15-12-2010 03:50 PM

Good for them but takes away the novelty of winning.

It does but people who were in the final, or those that got eliminated before them got deals, look at how Diana's doing and she just missed out on making it to the final:).

Mystic Mock 15-12-2010 05:28 PM

i dont wish one direction to do bad,but they are only good for the teenage girls that fancy them.

paije and aiden should be signed up.

I agree with this comment and I am really glad they are all getting recording contracts, they likely will all have some success. A good move by Simon Cowell.

joeysteele 15-12-2010 07:33 PM

I understand Aiden does offers, not with Simon but it will likely happen after the X Factor tour is over that Aiden is also included on.
Hopefully Paije will also get some deal too.

Pato 16-12-2010 06:18 PM

I think they could all do really well in the UK but honsetly I think Cher is the only one likely to break America maybe One Direction aswell
