Fox news doesn't agree with giving any health care away for free. Isn't that classed as communism to them?

Kizzy 29-01-2013 10:58 AM

Yep! What is it with portions over there...
I don't mean to be rude to the American posters, is that man v food thing real?
He asks for a sandwich and they give him enough food to feed a family of for four a weeek!
Whats all that about?

InOne 29-01-2013 11:04 AM

He goes to the gym loads inbetween the challanges and doesn't eat anything the day he does them.

Kizzy 29-01-2013 11:08 AM

That's not the point, the places he visits serve massive meals all the time to everyone.
This level of gluttony is revolting.

InOne 29-01-2013 11:09 AM

He's just a man who likes his food :pipe:

He is making Money
Thats his Job.

But today by Gavin on Red Eye this morning
means all ( if )
the Fat Americans get Free Gastrick Fited bands
and that means they no longer need hospitals.
Saving billions of dollars

Jesus. 29-01-2013 11:14 AM

If Americans want to kill themselves with food, we should be encouraging them not pointing out the error of their ways.

It does as The UK Health Service is doing Free Gastrick bands
in some zones

Kizzy 29-01-2013 11:20 AM

We are 5 years behind them, soon our cafes will have troughs outside and buckets of cola for everyone too!
Has anyone seen 'supersize me' by Morgan Spurlock?

That's not true Arista. Many people return to eating massive amounts. Food is both a physical and mental issue.

It stops it for a while, not forever. There are bigger issues involved rather than just cutting the stomach in half.

This is a Money Deal
and the presidents Health Care is having money trouble

Kizzy 29-01-2013 11:33 AM

He will be cursing the day he provided free healthcare, any idea how much obesity costs the NHS?

Well here's the facts - the presidents healthcare bill actually reduces costs. You may think this particular bill is having trouble, but the real issue is that healthcare providers get to vastly overcharge patients for care.

If they had universal healthcare, they would save billions, but the right are in bed with the insurance companies and refuse to allow anything like that to happen.

I find myself agreeing with all of that.

As for the issue of free gastric bands, perhaps the money might be better spent on providing counselling for people who clearly have issues with food. Like JHC says, they will go back to overeating eventually.

Well if you didn't, I'd get really angry and shout at you.

He doesn't provide free healthcare. They provide it to some people, but most Americans pay thousands of dollars a year in insurance premiums.

A couple of years ago, more bankruptcies were caused by healthcare costs than any other reason in the US. That was in a global meltdown. I don't know how those figures stack up today, but I'd guess they'd still be pretty similar.

The right wing in America even held up a bill to provide ongoing healthcare to the first responders on 9/11. People who are dying because of the toxic environment they faced on that day.

Nothing is free in America. Even basic human rights and dignity.

Ooo I'm scared.

I'm sure there are lots of obese people in the UK already getting gastric bands on the NHS. I remember seeing a programme about it where a woman up for a gastric band would buy loads and loads of junk food on a Friday night and gorge herself with it. She found it almost impossible to lose the small amount of weight - ten pounds or something - that would show she was serious about losing weight and get her a free gastric band. That's not a physical weight issue, it's a mental issue.

Jesus. 29-01-2013 12:53 PM

Food plays on the same parts of the brain as sex and love, I believe. It's easier for unmotivated, depressed, fat people to reward their brains with burgers than it is the real thing.

Livia 29-01-2013 12:54 PM

I need to go and get some lunch....
