Aston Villa legend Paul McGrath has revealed that Ron Atkinson called black players “coons” during training sessions.

But then he added: “I heard him call some black players a coon during training. It didn’t happen very often, it was occasional. But I’m not going to defend him to the hilt.

and we all heard what he had to say tonight about Muslims...

This is pretty disgusting, I never realised it happened more than once before last night.

Ron is going nowhere.

Everyone's doing him a favour if he leaves.. gets to go on his Tenerife holiday as well.

This is why he should stay and there should bring 2 new opiniated housemates in, one black and one muslim to really ruffle his feathers so we can see the true ron.

Ammi is far from defending him and stated clearly that the warning was rightly given.

Perhaps you could look at the thread Ammi originally made days ago as to Ron and racism and see how the issue was overall very well debated from her lead.

Few, including myself are defending the comment and also I agreed with the warning given but it hasn't altered how I think as to Ron at all.
I don't myself go out of my way to dislike/hate people, I rarely see things as just black and white myself,I see lot's of grey areas in just about all issues.

Why what are they going to do - bully and intimidate an old man with numbers? :sleep:

Men of his age group are sitting in judgment and sending people to jail every day of the week! Nobody sees them as poor little old chaps - and Ron certainly isn't either.

No just be really opiniated, to the point that Ron can''t help but get involved. He did say stupidity irritates him, so he must stimulated by people that can debate.

..if you think that I've defended or made excuses for anything that Ron's said then you really haven't read any of my opinions on this...but really there isn't anything else to say, you carry on hating a very stupid man and let the real racists go about their business as well...
