Plates, Bowls, Etc - Polystyrene or Metal?

Do you prefer to use the regular metal kitchen plates/bowls or the disposable polystyrene ones?

I've always used the metal ones but when I had my own place in New York last summer I got really tired of washing dishes all of the time so invested in a load of the polystyrene ones so that I could just throw them out afterwards. I stood by the metal forks/spoons/knives because they are generally much easier to wash, but all in all it was a much more relaxing and convenient life using the polystyrene plates. I only ever encountered one problem with them, after spending about an hour making my own hunters chicken from scratch I accidentally cut through the plate with the metal fork while cutting the chicken and the sauce went everywhere.

But yes, 1-0 to the polystyrene throwaways.

what about the planet, all that waste, :nono: you only had one plate to wash up after yourself how hard could that be  and yes metal is more for the Army, we have Denby china in our house :hee:

We use Denby for daily use, and Royal Albert fine china for special occasions.
We do have a stack of melamine plates for picnics and BBQs.

Yeah, what LT and everybody else are saying.

I make an exception with pizza. That white foam disc it sits on in the packet is the perfect plate, it even soaks up the grease and stops the bottom getting soggy.

New York though :flutter: how long were you there and did you work

arista 30-07-2017 07:19 PM

Locke all the metal is going to China now
Military Robots Orders need metal

Metal painted is handy , though
if you drop it, no breakage

Metal, ceramic, whatever. None of them compare to the throwaways.

It was impossible for me to get a working visa and I had long term commitments there at the time that I couldn't risk messing up by being caught working illegally, so no work. I had an ESTA which allows you to stay for 90 consecutive days, so I stayed about 3 months.

You have to be skilled in specific areas to get a working visa, sadly I am not, arista
