No biggie just an oopsie-daisy again like some of the comments said on TiBB I think if India did not go on and on about 'the op/the change' people would not keep being reminded she was a man I don't think there was any maliciousness in the mistake

Cherie 05-01-2018 04:13 PM

tbf not one of them on the couch reacted when Ann did it last night, I don't think anyone noticed

Vicky. 05-01-2018 04:13 PM

Meh. If India is talking about their transition all of the time as it seems, then it will be in the back of peoples minds that India is actually male. For most people, language is a universal thing. And He is used when speaking about male people. Hence 'mistakes'. I cannot get myself too worked up about 'misgendering'. Have been called sir myself before and the world did not end.

I think I would use them/they instead tbh. I already try to do that, that way you cannot really make a mistake. Even though I find them/they a weird pronoun to use for a singular person.

Briancbbfan 05-01-2018 04:14 PM

No malice is meant by it but I understand what India says, a simple "oh i'm so sorry genuinely" from Amanda would've cleared the situation though...

They wouldn't. People don't tend to actually give a crap about pronouns. That seems to be an internet phenomenon more than anything else.

WELP that was an awkward watch.

Cal. 05-01-2018 04:17 PM

Only Maggie, Jess and Ashley haven't misgendered her now. No wonder she's excited for the men to come in!

Have you seen the fall out of it on the video i posted ?

Okay to be fair to India there is only women in the house so how hard is it to just reference EVERYBODY as a “she” its not that hard. The only reason I can think you would misgender someone is if you knew them as a man/woman before they transitioned and therefore find it difficult to adjust but they all met India as India and so I just can’t grasp how they keep making the same mistake?

But then, if India is getting misgendered a lot now I dread to think what the guys are going to be like, Dapper will probably do it on purpose and I can see India walking.

Crimson Dynamo 05-01-2018 04:19 PM

Well at least She isnt over-reacting...

Yes but India will be very insecure about it as most trans people are. When you’ve fought so hard and for so long to be your true self and then someone drags you back to that place you were before you would get annoyed, especially if they do it repeatedly. It’s like a power thing and although I know nobody is misgendering India on purpose it takes away India’s power.

Gusto Brunt 05-01-2018 04:20 PM

This is getting embarrassing.

Cal. 05-01-2018 04:20 PM

'Lets just have our tea' after she leaves the room :laugh2:

When did Malika misgender her?

Wizard. 05-01-2018 04:21 PM

Also I don’t seem to remember any other trans housemate being mis-gendered in the same way I don’t know what’s wrong with these lot

Gusto Brunt 05-01-2018 04:21 PM

They won't accept he is now a she. Fact. But it's so cringing

Withano 05-01-2018 04:21 PM

I do think it's because she talks about it so often. If she never brought it up at all, there'd be no confusion.

I do feel for India but she has to acknowledge it is an easy mistake when you talk about being male (at one point) so regularly.

I forgot she was there for a moment!

Gusto Brunt 05-01-2018 04:22 PM

I think it's because India may be acting like a fella...there isn't much femininity about her.

That's just a possible explanation.
