Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will re-team on “Bill & Ted Face the Music” — the third installment of the comedy franchise.

Reeves will again play Ted “Theodore” Logan and Winter is portraying Bill S. Preston Esq. The two previous titles were “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” in 1989 and “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” in 1991.

Original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have penned the script, with Dean Parisot (“Galaxy Quest”) confirmed to direct. Scott Kroopf (“Limitless”) will produce with Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce of Hammerstone Studios, with Steven Soderbergh executive producing alongside Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr., and John Santilli.

“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again,” Reeves and Winter said. “Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm, we’ve got a dream team!”

MGM owns the rights and will release in the U.S. under the Orion Pictures banner. Bloom is handling international sales, which commenced in Cannes this week. Endeavor Content negotiated the deal.

The original film saw the slacker duo travel through time to assemble historical figures for their high school history presentation. In the new film, middle age and the responsibilities of family have caught up with these two best friends, who have not yet fulfilled their destiny to write the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns that only their song can save life as we know it — forcing Bill and Ted to set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song.

The film is currently in pre-production. “Fans of ‘Bill and Ted’ have been waiting for Reeves and Winter to reunite since their last ‘Bogus Journey’ in 1991,” said Alex Walton of Bloom. “This is excellent!”

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are 'tuning the air guitars' for THIRD film

t's been 27 years since their last adventure.

And on Tuesday, Keanu Reeves, 53, and Alex Winter, 52, announced they'll be reprising their roles from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and its sequel Bogus Journey for Bill & Ted 3.

The film will be titled Bill & Ted Face The Music, according to EW.

According to EW, the film again follows the titular heroes, who are now middle-aged fathers, as they 'set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it.'

'Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends.'

The film reunites the actors with the screenwriters of the first two films, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, as well as Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot.

Around the same time as the official announcement, The Lost Boys star Winter took to social media to stoke excitement for the film.

'We're tuning the air guitars,' teased the Grand Piano actor.

The original film was a modest hit, grossing $40,485,039 off an estimated $10million budget.

I think?

user104658 09-05-2018 03:05 PM

Just the premise of the film itself makes the first two films funnier to me... Like the whole thing was that Wild Stallions were going to write a song that would unite the world in peace and make everything "excellent"... and I for some reason totally love the idea that they just procrastinated for years and didn't get around to actually doing it :joker:.

Coming in summer next year.

I don't think it'll be as good as the first two tbh

Hope I'm wrong

But yeah there's literally no way this sequel can live up to the first two.

Calderyon 09-06-2020 11:16 AM

It seems that I have not seen them.

I don't understand how Keanu Reeves managed to be a better actor in his 20's than he is now. Like... Ted was a role he actually excelled in. Maybe it's just what he was genuinely like as a teen and he wasn't actually acting, and now he's forgotten how to be that .

James 23-07-2020 04:06 PM

New trailer.

Might be alright, but a bit weird how Bill and Ted don't seem to have changed.

Oliver_W 23-07-2020 04:58 PM

Much like Back to the Future movies, I've never seen Bill and Ted all the way through in one sitting. They're both "one of those films" which is one practically every weekend, but I've only seen random, nonsequential chunks of them about half an hour long. I can piece together the story based on what I've seen, but I've not technically watched any of them!
