He got a lot of young people interested in politics.

Kizzy 11-01-2020 09:31 PM

No I won't baity mc baitface :idc:

Oliver_W 11-01-2020 10:02 PM

There doesn't need to be any positives  All political voices are and should be welcome. It's up to the people to vote for them - or not. Brexit and Corbyn both have gotten more people - especially young people - interested and involved in politics than virtually anything else.

Cherie 11-01-2020 10:18 PM

He managed to turn a positive into a negative

He got Brexit done. Inadvertently...

Liam- 11-01-2020 10:31 PM

He helped bring a lot of good, achievable, popular socialist policies to the forefront, he got a lot more people enthusiastic about voting and being a part of trying to make a change and he’s got everyone singing The White Stripes so, he’s a bit of a legend

Until he got his arse handed to him, of course.

He widened the Overton window, and brought discussions to the table which might not otherwise have been. Even if he and/or his policies were roundly rejected, they were discussed.

I’m not quite sure what part of my post that’s aimed at

I firmly believe that he's done the Labour party a lot of harm. Under a different leader they might have done better, won even. But they didn't listen. Corbyn supporters raised him to a Messiah like status... but they were the minority. It's a shame... even thought I'm not a Labour supporter the country runs better with a really strong opposition to stop the government going off half-cocked. Just my take of course....

Also a fact.

Liam- 11-01-2020 10:49 PM

I think it’s a bit disingenuous to suggest their policies were rejected, they proved to be popular, but the Tories plaid the game very well and made sure brexit was the main focus of the election and that’s what lost labour the election, along with a swelling dislike of Corbyn, undoubtedly whipped up by the media assault on him

Livia 11-01-2020 10:51 PM

Yeah, yeah... it was everyone else's fault.

Twosugars 11-01-2020 10:51 PM

Progressive manifesto is the main thing. They must continue with that

Liam- 11-01-2020 10:52 PM

Good chat as always

His policies are very popular but as they are identified with him are sidelined as of today's press. 'Toxified' the phrase was ... never heard anything more ridiculous.
Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face :bored:

He has shown how NOT to be a successful party leader, as he has been the worst in history. That should be a positive lesson for the Labour party going forward, but I fear not.
