Whatever your individual opinions on this subject (and everyone is entitled to one), I think it's important to understand that Piers' ratings are really struggling, so if you have genuine fears or questions around trans people, just know that your fears are being monetised to save a struggling career.

I understand the free speech angle, but this is the guy who walked off his own show to deny someone their free speech.

I do find the new career path of constantly minimising a severely at risk minority, extremely ghoulish. It has caused deaths, and will cause many more before you all eventually pretend you always accepted trans people in about 20-30 years time.

She just answered Piers questions, she barely said anything really just that being a girl and growing up as a girl into a woman isn't the same as getting surgery to look like a woman, how can anyone argue against that?

Piers definitely had an agenda there but there was actually nothing out there with what she said either

Why doesn't Ernest Owens do what they want to do, and let the other Twitter users decide for themselves if they want to not follow Macy Gray anymore.

One thing I can't stand about Twitter is when people try to form a mob trying to dictate to people how they should feel.

But with Macy Gray's initial comment, it just feels unnecessary tbh.

I don't get why people can't just try to be civil with each other.

Do you not see the difference in power between the 2 sides? One side is just asking for acceptance they exist, the other is a majority who refuse to accept it and use their platforms almost exclusively these days, to deny their existence and minimise them. Being civil towards your oppressors wouldn't ever be suggested in any other context.

But from what Niamh described, it does seem like people have overreacted to Macy Gray's comment.

You clearly see it very differently to people on "the other side" though Slim. No one is denying anyone's right to exist, it's such an odd slogan in this debate. Transwomen/transmen exist who says they don't?

That's exactly what it is though, Niamh. If a person believes themselves to be a woman or a man, goes through years of hormones and treatment, and people turn around and tell them that they aren't what they think they are, then that is absolute denial of existence.

A guy on twitter calling for cancellation isn't equal to the hour of hour of Galahad tv shows where segments are created specifically to talk crap about an at risk minority.

But they are transwomen/men though, how is that denying anyone's existence? I'm happy to call anyone by whatever name they want etc but biology matters too especially for women. You talk about oppressors etc but you haven't acknowledged at all that women have always been oppressed because of our sex not our gender identity, just look at what's happening in the states right now fgs, that's 100% discriminating, controlling and oppressing women because of our Biology. Self ID is threatening to eradicate that right for women and girls to name themselves as such based on our biology, in fact you talk about people's "right to exist" what about our right to exist as a biological class? Why is that not important?

Surgery and synthetic hormones don't change reality. Actively declining to play along with someone's delusions isn't denying their existence, especially when they literally aren't what they think they are.
