Greggs sales jump as people turn to value meals

[Cost of living live: Greggs sales jump
as people turn to value meals;
energy bills could be more than
predicted by next year

Cost of living latest as
energy consultant Cornwall Insight
says regular gas and electricity bills
could reach £3,615 in the new year;
bakery chain Greggs sees sales jump
in the first half of the year as
more people across the UK turn to value meals.]

[Greggs sales jump as customers
turn to cheaper meals
The bakery chain Greggs has seen
sales jump in the first half of the year
as more people across the UK turn
to value meals.
Sales leapt by 27.1% in the 26 weeks
to 2 July to a total of £694.5 million,
compared with £546.2 million a year earlier.
But half-year profits remained
largely flat year on year at £55.8m
compared with £55.5m last year,
due to the reintroduction of business rates,
an increase in VAT and higher levels
of cost inflation.

With soaring inflation putting
a strain on people's incomes,
consumers are more likely to turn
to lower-cost food and drink while
on the go, Greggs said.]

People needing to rely on sickly, greasy, and fatty foods is a failure of government.

I don't get this at all, surely it is cheaper to make these at home yourself, and Greggs food is yuk

I've been making more of my own grub. Greggs too expensive. I can get 15 buns at a cheap shop for £1, and some cheap sausages 8 for £1. Ketchup is 45p at the cheapo shop. Butter 75p. That makes a lot of yummy sandwiches. :p

Some Workers do not have time

The big new Greggs in Central London
Leicester Sq,
wanted to be 24 hour open
but the Police objected
so the Council said NO.

[The cops and local councillors believe
that 24-hour opening would fuel crime
and disorder in Leicester Square]

Indeed.
You can cook a decent meal for a family from scratch by the time you bought a few of those.
