Fortunately not and my mobile phone and keys were in my coat pocket, but I've lost a lot of money.

Yeah the police said that. I had to go in the bank and put a stop on my card. They are sending me a new one with a new pin.

No but that's really quite scandalous. Sorry you had to go through something like that. What a way to start the new year. Unfortunately not all that uncommon nowadays. Criminals feel emboldened by lack of police initiative in going out and solving actual crimes, and not just a few mean words being spoken on twitter.

Just last month, I saw a mugging while I was walking through the local woodland. Heard some sort of a commotion happening around the other side of a pond that was half-obscured by trees, and then I saw a young guy scarpering away on his bike and with a young woman chasing after him. I honestly thought it was just a boyfriend and girlfriend pissing about with each other until I heard her calling out that he'd stolen her phone. Unfortunately he was well away by the time that registered.

I'm home now. My boyfriend had to come pick me up. I'll do Top Answers tomorrow probably.

It's my own fault the police more or less said because I was on my mobile phone and not paying attention to my bag. They weren't nasty about it but they said I was targeted.

You need to watch your bad when you're out.
It nearly happened to me and now I watch my bag like a hawk when I'm out.

…just to add to the ‘what I have that feels a bit secure’…I always have a small cross body bag as I never really carry much with me so it’s enough…

I'm honestly so relieved I had my mobile phone in my hand and not in my bag. I would have been even more upset if I'd lost that. Its my lifeline.

Lucky that, the mobilie loss would be much worse at least you can cancel your card

Sometimes it's best to let a thief have the bag. Just make sure that you dont keep valuables in it

I always make sure I have my bag with me, it helps that I have a crossbody one . But still you have to be so careful these days, muggers & thiefs are getting more bold and sneaky. I never leave my bag unattended.

Hope you are ok Kate….if I had loads of cash in my bag I would have it attached to my arm. It’s unlikely you will get it back but at least you are unharmed.
