Tibb Big Brother Task 5: Tribute Thread: Robin Williams

As part of a task in Tibb Big Brother, i’ve made a thread dedicated to the hilarious and iconic Robin Williams. The goal of the task is to see how many posts i can get in this thread in 24 hours.

Robin Williams had so many classic movies. What’s some of your favourites? I myself would say Mrs Doubtfire or Jumanji for the nostalgia, i watched them ALOT when i was a kid but then there were some of his movies that kinda flew under the radar a little… anyone remember Toys? :joker:

Possibly controversial but I hated Mrs Doubtfire. Just too cheesy for me

Good Morning Vietnam was a good movie

I’ve actually never seen that one. Is that the one where he’s a radio host or something?

Yeah - its an old one (totally showing my age )

It always makes me sad when I think of him taking his own life though when he brought so much joy to many people through his movies

@Swan @Beso @Niamh. @Maru @Benjamin Favourite Robin Williams movies??

Kate! 25-04-2025 02:39 PM

I myself loved Robin Williams. He had such a joyous personality. My favourite film is Dead Poets Society as it made a massive impact on me when I first saw it.

 you won't be disappointed

Maru 25-04-2025 03:11 PM

I found him more iconic as a person than the stuff he did in movies, etc. He had a special character to him.

Kate! 25-04-2025 03:29 PM

He certainly did Maru.

……such a great choice for a tribute, jones……his was one of those celebrity deaths that really impact, in terms of celebrity he was such a bright light and I’ve read so many stories of how kind he was as a person…

Ammi 25-04-2025 05:20 PM

…obviously he was a genius of comedy and making us all laugh …but for me, some of my favourite of his movies were when he played a more serious and even a very dark character…One Hour Photo, Insomnia…two really dark and intense performances from him and showing the stretch and reach of his acting talent, I guess…

Ammi 25-04-2025 05:21 PM

…I loved him as that big blue genie in Aladdin…..and I loved Flubber as well..…

Ammi 25-04-2025 05:23 PM

…Robin Williams Russian Dolls which were inspired by some of his movie characters…

…those dolls just reminded me of The Birdcage, such a good movie and he was excellent in that also…

…some Robin Williams stories from Buzzfeed…

"Having lived in the San Francisco Bay area almost all of my life, there are MANY stories of Robin Williams' generosity. There was a family who had just come from their grandma's funeral, and they stopped at a donut shop for a snack and coffee. One could tell that they were upset by their conversation about cleaning out their grandma's belongings from her nursing home — after a while, the man in the next booth (his back to them) got up and introduced himself, and it was Robin Williams! He asked if he could join them and mentioned he had overheard their conversation — he asked them what kind of person their grandma was like, and what kind of things she enjoyed doing. After just a few minutes, he had them laughing and celebrating her life, and when he left, he paid for their donuts and coffee."
