Do you like pickles/gherkin on a burger?

Or do you not?

Redway 18-08-2025 05:02 AM

I don’t even like fresh cucumber (and the smell of that makes me sick), so it’s a definite no from me.

Mystic Mock 18-08-2025 05:14 AM

For me a Cheeseburger or Quarter Pounder has to have Gherkins on them, or it's not a proper version of those Burgers in my eyes.:joker:

I love them.

Redway 18-08-2025 05:21 AM

Apparently there are genetic reasons why some people literally can’t stand the smell or taste (for me the smell is worse than the taste, but neither work for me) or cucumber while others love it. For better or worse, depending on who you are, pickling gherkins and cucumbers in vinegar/brine only amplifies the vibe of cucumber.

I like the idea of cucumber in terms of hydration, skincare (less-so, though; that’s not a dealbreaker for me) and just fresh vitality but I can’t even get past the smell so I just can’t. I tend to stick to celery, water and watermelon (and stuff like it) when I want the give the old hydration-nugget a boost.

…no, but I don’t like a burger so that was never going to work for me…

Niamh. 18-08-2025 08:02 AM

Yes, love them

Crimson Dynamo 18-08-2025 08:07 AM

bots 18-08-2025 08:07 AM

disgusting

I usually order with extra gherkins. And take my OH’s as he doesn’t like them.

Kiosks with customisation-options are a godsend for peeps like me. As I voted in the poll, I don’t even like salad-ingredients on my burger (so no to lettuce, mayo. and raw tomato). Just the meat, some melted cheese (if it fits), maybe some crispy bacon (again, if it fits)/ketchup and, like, that’s it, basically. No salad-esque ingredients and certainly no pickle/gherkin. Gross.

Now that is food that I just can't stand.

Celery has to be the most bland food on the planet imo.

Hmm, to be fair, I’d rather take bland over actively gross (as far as my personal senses are concerned, of-course). I don’t mind a good celery.

It’s always interesting to see how everyone’s individual likes and dislikes vary greatly when it comes to food.

Lol, I literally put my eyes to good practice every time I order a burger. Even if I’ve customised it on the kiosk down to just the way I want it, or I’ve ordered a burger from a joint (like a chippy) where burgers don’t tend to come with pickle anyway, I always screen the ting, just to be sure there’s no hidden pickle lurking there by-accident. If it’s a double or triple, I’ll go through and pre. each individual layer. That’s how much I hate pickle.

You onto these candy sucking-pickles shops seem to be stocking at the moment, since you like pickle?

That’s my stance ..

I have ultra sensitive taste buds so many things like the two things mentioned plus other stuff like curry , spices , mushrooms (taste and texture) are just decidedly unpleasant . Weird textures like mushrooms are also a no no .

So everyone says I only eat bland food but to me it’s great .

The funny thing is, I love all-those things you mentioned (most spices, curry and mushrooms). But I’d never begrudge you over blandness of palate. Not that. I’d take a bland celery-stick over a sea of pickles any day of the week, too.

bots 18-08-2025 08:51 AM

food is such an interesting subject. It is determined by smell, texture, look and taste and combinations of all of them. I don't think there is anything else that needs to satisfy so many different criterea .... and that's why you will always get so many different responses

BBXX 18-08-2025 09:06 AM

Yes! I don't eat a lot of beef burners but when I do I make sure I put them in. A sometimes just eat them out of the jar.

I love a good Ruben style sarnie, too. Some pastrami or salt beef, pickles, some melty cheese and mustard on some nice rye bread - food of the gods!

I agree.

Me and my Brother disagree on food all of the time.

But it can be fun discussions.

I only really have Pickles at McDonald's tbh.

I have got to branch out more and try them on other things.

Yup I love them

Beso 18-08-2025 06:17 PM

Cockles are good on a burger.
