Recommend a scary film

I'm having a movie night with friends on Halloween and we've already selected a comedy (Mean Girls, natch. All my friends and I love it!) but we can't decide on a scary film.

We want to be scared shitless! Any suggestions?

MrGaryy 08-10-2008 03:54 PM

C'mon people! Nothing?!

Mrluvaluva 08-10-2008 03:57 PM

The only film that ever **** me up and gave me nightmares was the re-make of "The Thing". Mind you "Saw" did and that was because that could happen in real life. "shudders"

I despise scary films. I don't see the point in them anyway.. I think a really good one is Monsters Inc. Made me shite myself

(yeh that was a joke, I aint a pussy)

Lol, I ain't exactly a big fan of them either (thats why I'm no expert on what to choose), but we felt that seen as it's Halloween we should make an effort to get into festivity!

My friend suggested The Ring but she's seen it already, I want something new for us all!

Seen most of them, not all. The ones I havnt seen is the ones my friends and family say are really good.

The Scream Trilogy (1st I would say)
Nightmare on Elm Steet
Haloween
I know what you did last summer
The Decent
Prom Night
Brain Dead
Friday the 13th
Hellraiser
The Exorcist
The Shining
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Hills have Eyes
The Omen (the original was shot in the house which is literally 10 mins walk away from me in Woking. Very scary, the film has a curse, 5 stars of the movies were almost killed, 2 by getting struck by lightening, one was attacked by Rotweiller, car crashes ect... This was all while finishing the film)

pinkmichk 08-10-2008 04:05 PM

childsplay is the only one that freaked me out

Ninastar 08-10-2008 04:42 PM

i HATE horror films. I even got a bit scared at scary movie three. when they made fun of the ring. Gawd i couldnt move lol. thats it really. I have actually never seen a really scary film x

NettoSuperstar! 09-10-2008 09:44 AM

The Grudge (angry japanese ghost story)
Hostel (some poor backpackers get caught while traveling through Eastern Europe) ..super sick
Wolf Creek ( some poor backpackers get caught while traveling through the outback hehe)
The Shining ...classic but won't scare you shitless.

Tom4784 09-10-2008 09:36 PM

American Werewolf in London (watched it once as a kid....never AGAIN!!! it were terrifying!)
Rosemary's Baby (Not that scary but good)
Exorcist (Quintessential Horror Film)
Scream Trilogy

Going for older films are your best bet!

Jake! 12-10-2008 05:01 PM

Now Wolf Creek is an amazingfilm and is based on a true story...

Fom 12-10-2008 05:02 PM

The Omen

Scared the living poop outta me!

Jake! 12-10-2008 05:04 PM

The Omen done nothing for me, all you have to do is watch the old version of The Omen 2 and you'll get over it when the boy strangles himself, he he...

Arneldo 12-10-2008 05:07 PM

I never really get scared watching scarey films, but I do like them. I'd recammed "Funny Games". Despite it's name it's pretty messed up and a good movie.

Mrluvaluva 12-10-2008 05:12 PM

"Creep" is kinda scary too. "Hellraiser" and "Candyman".

Jake! 12-10-2008 05:26 PM

Creep, I'm glad you said that since I needed to rent it out for someone. Creep made me **** myself...

Mrluvaluva 12-10-2008 05:29 PM

His scream gets me. "shudders"

Jake! 12-10-2008 05:29 PM

Wrong Turn 1 & 2 are good too.

Killian 12-10-2008 05:31 PM

I'd recommend the Japanese version of The Ring -- truly the better version.

Don't go for Saw IV, it's awful.

Jake! 12-10-2008 05:32 PM

Saw V soon, can't wait...

*mazedsalv** 12-10-2008 05:45 PM

Never seen Wrong Turn... looks scary though.
Havnt seen Creep, but my friends have, and they were telling me about it and they cried with laughter with it, they didnt find it scary, they just laughed about something, I didnt understand what they were talking about. I think it was the way the Creep thing looked like, or sounded like. They were laughing while telling me, dont know if or why it was soo funny lol

Mrluvaluva 12-10-2008 05:46 PM

I hate the bit in Creep when she is restrained on the hospital bed. Urgh.

Jake! 12-10-2008 05:47 PM

No, trust me, well try to over your friends, it is scary.

Princess 12-10-2008 05:49 PM

The only scary movie I've ever seen was called 'The Cabin',I think or something like that. There was a lot of blood involved,my friends were laughing but I was terrified! Hate horror films, would much rather watch a rom-com.
