I always suspected they had told her beforehand to make a scene; be dramatic. But I doubt this specific incident was "planned" as she appeared genuinely delusional about how she was being perceived. And plus, I haven't seen any soap actors or friends of hers coming to her defense and saying her behaviour was out of character - more the opposite, that it was expected.
