Just by threatening war and keeping the conflict going in the East, Russia will achieve their aim of making sure Ukraine doesn't join NATO or the EU so I don't think he needs to invade. Its just to create instability and give Russia centre stage again
Most people in Kyiv don't seem too worried and live their lives as normal. It's a beautiful city so I'm glad I went and the risk is pretty low right now so I hope their tourism industry isn't suffering too much. Its cheap as hell, there's tonnes to see and I did a Chernobyl tour yesterday which was an amazing experience
