That’s really all it boils down to, Mock. If Burna Boy, Stormzy and Rihanna were in every year’s line-up it would be different but that’s not traditionally the case and in reality only a certain (if somewhat sizeable) proportion of black Brits like indie music that much.

The one that even gives me the most beef is the black people who criticise certain festivals for being too white but coconut/Oreo the hell out of black people who do choose to listen to the type of music most-stanned at those places, even when it’s not actually at the expense of R&B/hip-hop.

As far as I can tell this is just a demographic-preference thingy. If you like, go and listen to Manic Street Preachers and James Blunt. If you don’t like, go to Oye or down Spotify R&B-lane instead. In that sense England’s a totally free country.
