A suspect has been arrested after being treated at the scene for injuries. Police said they are following a 'definite line of inquiry' and that they were not looking for any other person at this time. A large knife has been seized from the scene, reports said.
The incident took place outside Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire, a school for primary-aged children.
Police are working to establish a motive but do not suspect a terrorist motivation behind the attack, Irish national broadcaster RTE reported.
