I still went to visit her, but not very often. I still took her calls and talked to her, but I was never the one to call. When someone is gone and you have a few years of hindsight, it's hard not to feel guilty... or at least, regretful about "what ifs".

You're obviously going to feel a bit of guilt, especially as it was your mother but people with addictions like that really need to come to a point themselves where they're ready to get help and that seems to come when they lose people and hit "rock bottom" from what I've seen.
