I thought The Special Relationship on BBC the other week showed some insight into Blair's thinking, (if realistic), and although Blair did bend the truth out of shape altogether to persuade parliament and sell the war, I think he thought he was doing the right thing.

So now it's the fault of those who DIDN'T lie and deceive Parliament and the electorate, anyone it seems other than the elected Government of the day! How were the conservatives or anyone else expected to make informed and well judged decisions based on a pack of lies?
And according to you the justification apparently for Blair lying to Parliament and the country was that "he probably thought he was doing the right thing"?!! If that is true, then he stepped way out of line by taking it upon himself to deceive us all. That was not in his remit or authority - we live in a democracy not a dictatorship. Blair's massive ego caused us to be rocketed right to the top of the terrorist hitlist, and this unrepentant war criminal has gone unpunished.
