Making an example, especially over the internet, never works. If it did work then noone would be illegally downloading because people have been fined millions for it yet it still happens. Just putting this into perspective, I was in Manchester Crown Court not so long ago doing some court observations for my Open Uni course and one of the judges (she was lovely) came and spoke to a few students who were in. She was being brutally honest and saying that the courts are made a mockery of because of the police and the prison system. But she told us about another judge who gave a defendent in the crown court (which often shares the same judges as the magistrates court this person was trialled at because they're in the same building) a caution for RAPE. Now compare that to someone being an internet troll and saying who deserves prison more.
