Everyone of you would be hurt if you discovered someone you thought of as a friend was slagging you off behind your back, Mario's reaction to Ben after finding out about him was to distance himself from Ben refuse to comment about him and no longer wish to be his friend, all understandable reactions.

I have to say that is pure invention, BEN said nothing about Mario that was not true,Ben only ever said anything from what he had seen, what he felt, heard or had been told, all with a firm base to what he was saying.
As for Mario 'no longer wanting to be a friend of BEN, in my view that is also wrong for the following reason, Mario was soundly rejected by Ben as to his sexual innuendo's and advances, Ben had got tired of them,he told Mario in frank terms he would be a friend but never anything more.
That, is why Mario turned on Ben, furthermore I would dare bet anything on it that were BEN now to meet up with Mario at all and give the slightest hint that he could be interested in Mario sexually then Mario would jump like crazy and be all apologetic, praising Ben from the rooftops (like when he got Ben back in the house for a few hours, wanting to be handcuffed to him).
He's a hypocrite and his hypocrisy stems from what people will 'not' give him in the physical sense, he is simply sick and far too possessive.
