exactly. Traveling between states in the US, is like traveling between countries in Europe. Most countries in Europe are more comparable to the size of a US state. And until recently you didn't even need a passport to travel to Canada. So North America as a whole, is much bigger than Europe, and you didn't even need a passport to go anywhere on the entire continent.
New York on the east coast of the US is as culturally different to Los Angeles on the west coast as London is to Rome.
Turkey is closer to the UK than Florida is to Alaska.
Europeans don't realize how culturally diverse the USA is.
