Yeah I hear there are some swell views of all the various historical European monuments and Asian temples from the cosy confines of an internet cafe in Backwash Georgia.

exactly. Traveling between states in the US, is like traveling between countries in Europe. Most countries in Europe are more comparable to the size of a US state. And until recently you didn't even need a passport to travel to Canada. So North America as a whole, is much bigger than Europe, and you didn't even need a passport to go anywhere on the entire continent.

New York on the east coast of the US is as culturally different to Los Angeles on the west coast as London is to Rome.
Turkey is closer to the UK than Florida is to Alaska.

Europeans don't realize how culturally diverse the USA is.

I fully respect how culturally diverse the USA is but even if I were an American I would myself want to get out of there and experience another continent. Just like I do as a European. Are you honestly advocating staying landlocked like that for life?

You are right America is incredibly diverse but saying the difference between LA and New York is comparable to the difference between Rome and London is rifuckingdiculous.

i'm not advocating anything. And i disagree., You do realize at one point london was part of the roman empire don't you?

That may well be true, but who wants to see just a reproduction or facsimile of a country or a landmark? I want to see the real thing! I've been to Alaska which is a unique and beautiful place, but I could just as easily compare south central Alaska to Sweden as they are very similar. Doesn't mean I don't want to see Sweden though! I've been to San Francisco and sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge, I've seen the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, the Dancing Fountains and Las Ramblas in Barcelona, the Colisseum and the Vatican City in Rome, St Mark's Square and the Canals of Venice, the Parthenon in Greece and a thousand other marvellous and unique places in the world - I would never be satisfied with poor copies.

Also I live in London which is jam packed with historical sights and landmarks and you can replicate them all you want but that's all they would ever be, replicas.

But hey, if you're easily pleased and don't want to travel, that's your choice and your loss.

Umm, look at the architecture in london, yur telling me yu can't find roman architecture in london? Rome brought civilization to London. London would not be London without it's roman past.

What are we arguing about? New york is very different than LA, and ROme is very different than London.

They exist in seperate countries, for one. On a day to day basis that makes a whole world of difference. You are going to make light of any argument I have anyway ... what with your woeful use of a keyboard ... so I don't know why I bother but a tourist going from London to Rome and vice versa can expect a different primary language, a different system of politics and government services, a different currency, an entirely different near exclusive ethnicity of people with their own traits ... lord do I have to go on?

The differences between the two examples are in no way comparable. LA has different monuments, a different ethnic mix a different temperature, different languages and whatnot to New York, along with different state laws. Sure. But both are still quintessentially American. You're still in America. I'm not sure have you been to all four places but I have and the differences are not comparable.

One lovely country, united and standing tall with a smorgasboard of different cultures versus two lovely countries with two different cultures. Unless you're now arguing that your beloved country is nothing more than a loosely tied together melting pot of different cultures? That would go against your previous posts general theme of 'American' culture and 'American' inventions and whatnot. Is it all in reality seperate cultures just coming under the one banner? A pseudo country only in name?

You can't have it both ways can you, surely? Christ you are a drag. I'll just leave you be.
