Think the term chapel is only really used in more rural areas. Was brought up a Catholic and the only place I have heard it used when referrring to a Catholic Church was in Ireland when referring to a smaller church or up here with the local porridge **** out in the sticks.

Being a very lapsed Catholic of (too) many years - it was always referred to as Chapel up my way.
I'd read that InOne in particular, mostly due to him having explained he'd taken a great interest (and did well) in R.E. Studies - it could just be a personal preference on terminology I guess.
