Should it be a case of expecting card shops to stock what isn't demanded, let them stock up on religious cards that won't sell - help put them out of business, bankrupt them, owners have to sell up, have no income, can't pay mortgage/rent : lose house, end up on street. Merry Christmas one and all. Religion: it's got a lot to answer for ! |

Wonder if it was purchased at the Chapel/Church shop...... that's where most people I know who are religious, tend to buy their from: money all going to the faith and all that.
You should ask where they bought it and call the Daily Mail, let them know where their religious readers can procure such a thing. |

The word chapel is in particularly common usage in the United Kingdom, and even more so in Wales, for independent or nonconformist places of worship; and in Scotland and Ireland for Roman Catholic churches |

Think the term chapel is only really used in more rural areas. Was brought up a Catholic and the only place I have heard it used when referrring to a Catholic Church was in Ireland when referring to a smaller church or up here with the local porridge **** out in the sticks. Being a very lapsed Catholic of (too) many years - it was always referred to as Chapel up my way. I'd read that InOne in particular, mostly due to him having explained he'd taken a great interest (and did well) in R.E. Studies - it could just be a personal preference on terminology I guess. |

All the churches that I was dragged to by my parents, used to have smaller areas tucked away in the wings, mostly dedicated to JC's mum, Mary, or the saint the church was dedcated to. These were referred to as chapels.
Oh one other place would be the multi denominational place of prayer in hospitals they were often called chapels, think they are now "quiet" rooms or some such rubbish. |

![]() Dragged by the collar - brings back memories. As well as getting clipped on the ear coz I wanted to attend wearing a pair of very 'trendy' lilac coloured flares with a multi coloured tank top - and told my gran God didn't care what I wore - as long as I went. I learned very quickly that what God cared about, mattered less than what SHE cared about....... - via a rather brutal scud on the head courtesy of the auld dear! ![]() Last edited by Pyramid*; 22-12-2011 at 02:21 PM. |

I have always felt it was the same god in all the religions, just the idiots in charge of the methodology of worship were different. Or then again maybe Gods just a joker, slipping each religion the nod, quietly telling each religion they were the chosen people and other groups were heathen etc. Then sitting back and watching the fireworks. |
