Happened to me once on a night out in Cardiff, tried to go to McDonalds at about quarter to 5 (in the morning) and they had a bloke stood outside who told us we couldn't go in because they close at 5, after we pointed it out to him that it was only 4.45 he just said "look we're closed and that's it" and didn't really seem in the mood for negotiation about it
