Gina has been hamming it up a bit too much for me this past two days.
What it boiled down to was this :
Charlie was telling Gina how she was trying to explain to Sam how you might look at someone really attractive ( like Hazel) and be immediately attracted, on the othe hand he might get to know someone like Gina and it could be a slow burner, ending up really liking that person and not knowing exactly when the change happens.
Gina took umbrage at this, prattled on about how she had a boyfriend outside and how much she was offended how it would look. Charlie was trying to tell her it was only an example and that she used Gina because she was sitting in their view from the treehouse. Gina was talking over Charlie all the time and that s why Charlie felt the need to try and keep explaining herself.
Massive over reaction from Gina, normal rambling from Charlie.

Thanks for the summary, I guess it's hard to have an opinion on it without having seen it, but I could see Ginas POV more so from just reading it
