How could he possibly have known that? All you can do in that situation is to take what is said to you literally, they were all in eviction outfits they were pretty damn sure someone was going.
Charlie and gina respected him, I know sam didn't and he was honest in his responses to dexter,, he knows he knows he talks rollocks and he told him straight.
