That said, he did appear to be losing the plot the final day he was in, and I felt a bit relieved he left. I got the impression he has some anger issues, and he might have lost his head and got violent.

Indeed,I thought that possible too, and really Ken was Alexander's first target,not Perez, after the so called racist word Ken used and got warned for.
I think Alexander was also maybe a difficult man to live with,he gave little of himself away and really rarely joined in with much either.
It soon became obvious to me and I am sure most watching that he really had no wish to be there, right from the start really too.
