"whatever she says" - he believes she's not dead
"she MADE everyone unhappy" - as in she did but won't anymore because he knows she's dead
I wonder if Bobby fluffed his line? Did he think she was dead or not?

You could still say she made everyone unhappy if she were alive. As in if you were talking to someone and said "I'm really annoyed with you" why? "Because you made everyone unhappy today"
