Probably so they'd give Jack more of a reason to start something with Simon afterwards
It still astounds me that people still take being nominated so badly, surely when you go in there you should tell yourself, no matter what happens don't react badly to being nominated, the public hate that, also he should have remembered how quickly public opinion on HMs can change also
