Just finished watching - some very interesting points raised about Big Brother's future and Channel 5 as a whole.
Channel 5 as a whole:
Big Brother:
- 'It's a very big player in the channel'
- BB was strategically placed at 9 this year to avoid the Euros/Olympics (it held up quite well)
- Civilian BB will play at 10PM/maybe 11PM in the future, Celeb BB may stay at 9PM
- Frow wants fresh commissions 'to take the limelight off Big Brother'
- Off-the-cuff comment on Big Brother winners 'you don't always get it right'
("You stated last year that you were taking a 'big look' at Big Brother. With CBS announcing a digital edition of Big Brother US, what's next for the UK show?")
- Love Island gave them 'a bit of a jolt', head start on Big Brother '****ing made me angry'
- When he came to Channel 5 he said that he 'didn't want to be the person that kills Big Brother'
- It's rating well for C5
- "We owe it to the viewers really to be bold enough to say 'how can we evolve this into the future?'"
- He wants a 'big brave bold, blue sky editorial discussion' with Endemol to see how the show can be kept 'as a leader' (also saying that he 'doesn't want to be second'), possibly affecting the January series.
