Ok I see if people might not like that but it wasn't a bad way to edit this particular episode and it felt like a lot was going on because of it (in a good way). It made sense with the unpredictability in itself of Cirie doing that.
As far as the post-merge goes... it's been back and forth, it's not like one side is just taking out the other which happens pretty often. That alone isn't a bad thing for a merge & there's plenty going on. It's actually pretty unique that a group of 6 around the merge lost control of the game and then managed to possibly get it back now after being in the minority for a few episodes.

I felt like the pre-merge had much less actually going on and it was more predictable. Sandra was the only thing saving it off of her pure entertainment. Now there's actual storylines, game moves (mostly bad which is good for entertainment

), power shifts happening since the merge.
