It's done out of respect for women, but some people choose to see it as sexist or unequal. The kind of men who pay for dates etc are usually the more respectful kind of men who want to demonstrate care and consideration to women, which is a good thing.
It's a debatable point for sure. Some people can see it as a compliment and a sign of a caring gentleman, others choose to see it as a sexist act which is being a bit harsh and ungrateful in the face of kindness IMO.

Yeah i agree with that, my husband paid for our first dinner date, I'm a pretty independent woman and I always like to pay my way but I could tell that it was our first date and he wanted t feel like he did things properly if you know what I mean? so I let him (I did offer to split the bill though) But after that I made sure we took things in turns, I would feel uncomfortable if someone else was paying my way all the time, it's not how I was raised or raise my children to be
