He said very early on in the diary room, around the time he had one of his first chats with Ann about her views I think, something along the lines of not wanting to try and change her views or argue with her, but he wanted to have the conversation as it could help other lgbt people who are watching, because a lot of people do hold negative views of themselves because of people like Ann and hearing Shane J speak about that stuff can be inspiring and helpful for them, he's said as well about how he receives letters from young lgbt people who look up to him because of this sort of stuff. I think it's more to do with all that than it is having any sort of 'agenda' against Ann or wanting anything from her. I think it's a worthwhile reason for him to discuss those issues and tbh I don't understand why people seem to have such an issue with it, it doesn't take up much of the show, he doesn't talk about it all the time, and it is probably very helpful for some people watching so it's doing good if that's the case, and like I said it's because of people with views like Ann's that there are some of the problems there are in the first place, he's just providing a counter to that and using the show to get it across I suppose.
