Default Favourite proverbs?

Do you have any favourite proverbs that you like to say, or find interesting/amusing?

I like "treat others as you would be done by". It's a great motto to try and live by, and to aspire to.

Another I like is "every cloud has a silver lining", nice optimistic one that.

Then there are daft ones ..... Like "while the cats away, the mice will play." Truth is the bloody cat returns eventually and the poor mice end up living in fear once more. Tis a cruel world.

My absolute favourite, and one that is so so true, is "what goes around comes around." I believe in this wholeheartedly, Karma exists and what you put out there, be it good or bad, will always come back to you in the end. My nan used to say this a lot, she was a quiet woman, but very wise.

What proverbs do you like?
