are being made into "My Local"

sold.

These stores will have Distribution

Hm I went into a Morrisons Local on Saturday and they were closing early, half the shelves were completely bare and all fresh food was being sold off for 9p, suppose this was probably why

saw this on news this morning. good idea in principle but there is so much competition now and prices are so low ie competition I can not see how they are going to survive.

I would loved to be proved wrong.

'The consortium said the deal would safeguard the futures of 2,300 existing store staff – with up to 200 new jobs being created when 10 stores closed by Morrisons reopen. The new owners plan to rebrand the shops as My Local and implement a new supply chain.

Greene said: “Supermarket distribution depots are not usually experienced or expert in small-drop frequent deliveries ... so there’s a cost challenge there.

“We will work with one of the UK’s leading wholesalers that on a daily basis deliver to thousands of small stores and have been doing so for decades, efficiently and profitably in very small drops.'

It seems that staff will lose their jobs at Morrisons but be given employment by 'my local', let's hope with the new distribution costs the venture works.
