I had a girl come in today and I asked her name and she said Neeve and I was like I bet know how to spell that and spelled it 'Niamh' and she was impressed. I then said I bet people call her Nim, Ni-am or Niaomi all the time and she was so amused by me.

I then said it was because I knew an old lady with that name.


This seemed more interesting at the time in my head and I could have just posted this on your wall and saved everyone ten seconds of their life having to read this.

Maybe it's only common up in Scotland/northern England (and obviously Ireland & Northern Ireland) because I know loads of Niamhs, it's a fairly common name IMO
