A former Mayor of Gloucester and Sikh immigrant has defected from Labour to UKIP.

59-year-old Harjit Gill moved from India to the UK in the seventies for an arranged marriage.

He works as a Postmaster and became Gloucester's first Asian mayor in 2007.

Good post Arista - There are lots of established coloured people in this country who want and end to unfettered immigration and who support UKIP because of this.

Every single day more defections to UKIP are reported - but they're only the 'notables', the swathes of 'ordinary' defectors who are joining go unreported.

This is a tide which will not turn.
