I am a feminist. I want to see women get where they want to be on merit. Not because they have a rich father.

Ive no idea what that last comment meant. I believe in equality and equal opportunity I reject bias towards either gender , I also believe the left in particular have stopped listening to the other side of arguments and simply label anyone who disagrees as a racist or sexist or something other slanderous claim of bigotry. The sharon osbourne example was perfectly revelant in what society views as acceptable and the total contradictions within feminism.

I find the word "feminism" to be unhelpfully divisive to the point that I sometimes suspect it was specifically designed to be that way. A loaded word that supposedly pursues equality. It's a paradox.

Interesting post, definitely food for thought in there. I do think quite clearly there was an absolute need for a "feminist" movement, we were genuinely treated like second class citizens in the past and that's still happening in other cultures/countries too.

I do get you point about Western society now though and more and more believe that we are all looking in the wrong direction, all of us, fighting amongst ourselves while the big corporations and top of the pile rub their hands in glee and laugh

Hmmm... I find myself kind of agreeing with this.

When "feminism" was in its infancy, women were definitely not in the same league as men and were discriminated against in all areas. We've come a very long way since then and I don't understand the aggression from militant feminists who seem unable to accept that in the last fifty or so years things have changed radically and their rabid outrage isn't warranted at all.

Thetruth doesn’t want to be associated with maninists because they’re pretty disgusting in their views of women. I don’t want to be associated with “Feminists” because the term has been hijacked by awful, man-hating radicals that don’t represent me at all. Maybe what we need is a new word.
