What do you think about people getting tattoos of names? Particularly their own name or the name of the person they are in a relationship with?

I don't really understand it, I don't get why someone would want their own name permanently etched on their body. I can sort of understand why you would get a tattoo to represent someone whom you are madly in love with but even then I think it would make more sense to get a tattoo of something personal and symbolic rather than a name.
