What do you think about people getting tattoos of names? Particularly their own name or the name of the person they are in a relationship with?

I don't really understand it, I don't get why someone would want their own name permanently etched on their body. I can sort of understand why you would get a tattoo to represent someone whom you are madly in love with but even then I think it would make more sense to get a tattoo of something personal and symbolic rather than a name.

My cousin got my nans name tattooed onto her when my nan passed away last year which is pretty nice.. a tattoo of your own name or a partner you've been in a relationship with for a few weeks is ****ing ridiculous though,

Each to their own for me but If you put a partners name on your body you run the risk of looking the Pratt if they do one.

I know someone who got her boyfriends name tattooed on her lower back, they broke up a few weeks later, she got covered by a giant flower, but it looked more like a chopped up water melon.

I didn't particularly mean in another language because I believe people do that more for how it looks rather than just for having a tattoo of their own name, is that right?

I would never get a partners name, even if we had been together 40 years

A 'friend' of mine got her boyfriends name 'Gordan' a few months back and they split up a few weeks later. She has had it changed to read 'Gordans Gin'

I'd never get a name tattooed on me. I'd never get anything to do with a romantic relationship tattooed on me, or any living person. Sometimes it's interesting hear other peoples' tattoo stories, about why they got something tattooed on them; but I don't think I would ever get one and if I did it certainly wouldn't be a name.

I don't understand it at all, I've got names of my grandparents in my sleeve because they'll ALWAYS be my grandparents but I'd never even think of getting my girlfriend/wife's name!

Mind you, I suppose it's a bit better than when people went through a stage of having Nike "tick" tattoos and Adidas logos. Jeez!!
