I've been doing nothing for a year after I failed my first year of nursing and was 'off books'. I decided not to go back and am started a new course hopefully English and Linguistics in September. In 5/10 years time? I want to have a job I like, preferably writing for some sort of celeb magazine,I'd love to be married with a couple of kids as well.

I can totally see you doing that Laura.I am thinking of nursing atm actually, its something I wanted to do in school and I got good grades at GCSE but then I went to sixth form and just messed around so I did Beauty Therapy, got qualified and do some freelance work now but theres just not enough jobs in it and I will never make alot of money. So did you find the nursing alot of hard work then or just not for you?

The thing with nursing is you have to really really want to do it. I picked it cos it was in the uni I wanted to go to and also cos I wanted to work with kids and I didn't get Children's Nursing,I got General Nursing. It was a bit of both,it is really hard work, extremely draining, both mentally and physically. I just wasn't tough enough for it at all. My heart wasn't really in it. It's hard to tell whether you'd like it or not until you do it I think.

Yeah I can imagine you have to be really passionate about what your doing in order to succeed.I guess I wouldn`t know until I tried but Im not in that stage where I can just try things out and see how they go anymore,I feel like I should be in a steady job and doing something I love at my age, maybe I put too much pressure on myself.I spent alot of money getting myself through 2 years od beauty having to pay for kit and exams because I was over 18 it would be a shame for me to just give up but there are literally no jobs!As apose to nursing jobs which I see new ones advertised everyday.I need some serious careers advice but once you hit 20 no one really wants to know lol

Well I'd say if you don't feel like you'd be passionate about it,don't worth it. Yeah you get money but it's honestly not worth it. I know what you mean though,it's like people forget we're still young with no clue what we want to do. It's like a lightbulb should just go off and it doesn't happen and it's beyond frustrating. If you love beauty I say stick at all,it's hard getting a job anywhere at the moment, and you don't want to be stuck doing a job you hate years down the line just cos it payed.

Hopefully getting into my sixth form. Take the lessons that I enjoy and I can see doing something related to in the future. Then I wanna be an air hostess. LOL. It seems well fun :') even though they are like, looked down on or what ever, I still want to do it because you get to travel around alot and I like traveling.

Oh yeah and I want to get like a part time job in a cafe, or hotel or something easy like that for now.

Completed my a-levels last summer (didnt get the best results, could of still gone to uni but never looked into it) and have done nothing for a year, was on the dole for a while before I realised that the jobcentre is a load of **** so i went off them all

I'm currently on the verge with moving cause my parents recently divorced so were going into rented..which I ll try to look for a job afterwards.

I have no fcking clue. I have no realistic career paths ambitions or anything

Most of the advice services the government offer are a loada poppycock

I've just left college, I can either go back next year and do another course for 2 more years, or just do whatever else.

I think I'm just going to do whatever else.

Left college last year, spent a year doing odd jobs and such and I'm currently searching for a proper job and perhaps looking to go to a Uni of some sort.

Just finished college hopefully with A levels in Art, Music and Product Design, going off to study Music Composition at Brunel.

As for a career, as long as it's something creative that doesn't make me go into relapse I'll be happy.

Got one year of college left, hopefully I'll get the grades I need to go to uni. Then I plan on doing a 4 year uni course spending the summer working in the USA, the first 6 months of year 2 studying the USA and year 3 working in industry. Then once unis finished I think I'll spend the money I earned working on a gap year in Australia.

Dunno what sort of job or career I want yet though.

I'm 18 and I've just finished College.
I was studying Performing Arts & achieved a triple distinction.

Going to uni next year to continue studying Perf. Arts & hopefully get myself a part-time job, or some sorta professional work on the side

Y'see, most of my class were solely actors so they all applied for drama courses, but me & my best friend wanted to find something that involved dance & music as well, so she found a Musical Theatre one and I found a Performing Arts one - I'm totally pleased with the uni I'm going to though, the course looks fantastic!

They're really hard work though.
Their classes would be 9-5 every week day
where i'd have a 2 hour lecture once a week.
& they were gettign work to do for the next daay most nights.
I suppose when you lvoe what you're doign though it's really fun

2 hours once a week? woah.
yeah, i've been told i'm doing four days a week, assuming they're 9 - 5 [since they did say 'full days' with one day off (though i reckon that day off will be for doing more work)].
not that i'm too bothered of course haha.
