Channel 4 has confirmed that housemates from Big Brother 11 will go up against past stars of the show in its planned Ultimate Big Brother finale.

The broadcaster has promised "one final showdown with a house full to the brim of classic Big Brother characters" when this year's series ends.

A statement from the channel said: "On August 24 the 11th (and final series on Channel 4) will end abruptly, much to the current housemates' surprise.

"Little do they know they are competing not just to win this current series but also to challenge for the chance to join some of the best loved and most reviled faces from past series in The Ultimate Big Brother."

The lineup of Ultimate Big Brother has not yet been confirmed. The broadcaster is currently contacting some of the 180 former housemates and 68 stars from the celebrity shows.

"All returning housemates will enter the house to submit themselves to Big Brother's control once more," the statement continued. "However, as ever, the true power lies with the viewers, whose votes decide which former housemates are evicted and who will be crowned the Ultimate Big Brother housemate."

And looking at this current crop of housemates we have, they'd be stupid to chose anyone but the winner to stay on for this Ultimate BB thing.

Agreed. This year's lot are nothing compared to classic years.

I hope they have a lot of HMs from the earlier days (i.e. BB2, 3, 5) instead of just throwing in all the fame *****s from more recent series like Charley who would go back in just for some more attention. In fact, out of BBs 8-11, the only 2 I'd pick from those 4 series would be Marcus and this year's winner. That's it.

Also, I wonder if this "Ultimate BB" business will end on the day BB11 would have ended on if it ran its full 94-day course. That would mean the all-stars series would be 17 days long. A bit short, isn't it?

Ultimate Big Brother sounds better. All Stars makes me think of OTT American ****.

Anyway, as much as I think housemates from BB1-7 are far better than the last four series and would love to see them back i'd rather BB11 stay its own 13 weeks series with no ex housemates. And then maybe they should have done an "all stars" for 3 weeks in winter.

Does this mean the housemates that make the final will all compete too, or just the winner?
Or does it mean passed BB11 housemates that have gotten evicted can also come back as well as from other series?
