The thoughts going through his head just after he got that message:
"****! English people aren't gonna vote me to win if they think I'm doing it for Australia, I best try and loosen my ties with them" |

All 'australians' are English, as are the American's, Canadians and New Zealanders.
His mom is trying to tell him he's second favourite to win.

I think it was a coded message, all that about the ashes etc.
How patriotic he comes across if it is all in the Aussie press.

Lol, it doesn't make them English though... Only Australia, New Zealand & Canada are part of the Commonwealth now anyway (with The Queen being their had of state) but many Australia want to become a republic...

Would that be why she said he is doing it for Australia? His mother seems to have an Australian accent and it does sound as if they think of themselves as Australians even though they, as most Australians had British ancestors.

Yes it is true. You can blame Christopher Columbus for descovering America. He was going to India and he went of corse. That is why the Native Americans are called Indians.

Not really. I get what you are saying but people from many different countries have emigrated to Australia in the past 200 years... There are many over there with Greek roots etc... Britain may have shipped its convicts over there 220 odd years ago, but people with British roots are probably actually very much in the minority nowadays, though I do have British roots as my parents were born over here, emigrated then moved back when I was a teenager...

Awesome...like the Miz.

Australians in my opinion are a far nicer and friendlier bunch of people than us Brits.
And Australia is an amazing country, I'd move there in a heartbeat if I could.

No, he's Australian
He was born there & raised there = Australian. His parents were born in the UK = British He only holds a British passport because his parents are British, he will hold an Australian passport too. He is an Australian citizen, not a British citizen. I am in the exact same position as him (though I now live here) & I am Australian, with British roots... |
