Not so much a book...but resident evil. Was almost exactly the same as the game.

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy - fulfilled every expectation for me - every character was just as I had imagined they would be - in particular Gollum was a masterpiece. You could tell it was made by a director who loved the book.
Peter Jackson starts filming "The Hobbit" (the prequel) in February, and I just know it's going to be amazing.

I can't think of many really, I suppose the first 2 harry potter films were quite faithful. The Watchmen films was faithful in a visual sense. |

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was quite faithful to the book.
I really want to see Fear and Loathing... the last 4 Harry Potters have been sod all like the books - only the first 2 really captured the 'magic' of the stories. The others have been like Twilight movies - too dark, pretentious, broody, melodramatic (and if I hear 'I HAVE SOMETHING WORTH FIGHTING FOR' i'm actually going to change my name by deedpoll to Cheryl Cole and sue them for copyright infringement).

I Love Niamh’s Brick

Misery by Stephen King. The book was amazing and the film was so closely matched to the book and Kathy Bates is a legendary actress

Yep. They never seem to make a good transition from book to film. Oh wait The Shining and The Green mile were amazing adaptions but the rest were crap. I would love them to make a film of The Dark Tower series, but only if it was an amazing producer and director to do the books justice ![]()

Silence of the Lambs was quite true to the book. Huge sections of dialogue came straight out of the book onto the screen.,

I didn't know Shutter Island was a book. I liked it at first but the second half let it down, it became a generic "twist" movie where you could see the ending coming a mile off. Kind of like a variation on the end of Sixth Sense. Last edited by Marsh.; 20-10-2010 at 09:51 PM. |

Nothing in excess

The Innocents, it totally captures of the mood of Henry James' The Turn of the Screw upon which it was based. The villain Peter Quint is terrifying.
I believe Mother Night was quite faithful to the source material too.

Yes, great call David. Didn't think of that one at all. It's a note perfect adaptation.
