From what I can see all they do is sometimes pick the song for the act-hardly a difficult task considering it's usually the same pool of songs every year.Then someone else does the styling,choreography and vocal tuition.Their impact on how the acts perform is negligable yet they sit there and smugly take the credit if a performance goes well.
