I was under the impression this was a myth, but according to this site I just looked up it's quite commonplace for inmates about to be executed to request a 'last meal' up to a couple of days in advance.
However there are obviously rules - California has a $40 limit and must be something the prison has in stock. Texas regularly posts theirs into the public domain - some famous examples have been two pints of mint chocolate chip ice cream, 24 tacos (the inmate was only give 4) and "world peace". Apparently the most common is a cheeseburger and fries. But what would yours be?
