Default Orange Walks

Here we go again.

I hate these things: in the next town away: the walk is currently marching - about 90% of the shops have closed for the next few hours - and all I can hear are drums, flutes etc.

The place is at an utter standstill - and having seen some the the more 'respectable' ones - watching chavs following, swigging Cider / Lager / Buckie in one hand, dragging their kiddies with the other *- and knowing merry hell will erupt only too soon.

It's incredibly intimidating, it's full of bigotry no matter which way it's viewed and is a complete disruption.

Why on earth this all still is allowed to go on - beats the hell out of me.

*Rant over*

Don't know how to edit my title.... but I of course, include HIBS walks in this as well.

Just mentioned Orange Walk as it's today - just to clear that one up!

That is more of a Republican march. We, Hibernian FC, haven't had a band in years and if we did it would have no association to the club whatsoever.

I amn't for it at all, thank god they tossers don't bother singing that ****e at our games, that would be embarrassing.

Yeah, I was just saying incase anyone thought you meant Hibernian FC. We moved on from that crap in the 70's... just wish the Old Firm would do the same, but that's not happening any time soon.

sounds annoying.

In this costal town I'm in once a year some gangs (pagans or something) go stab each other on the beach.

and often, they will stop outside a Celtic pub / club...for nothing more than to antagonise.

I remember unwholly hell kicking off where I live a few years ago when the police actually allowed this to happen - they route had been given the 'okay' - knowing exactly what would erupt.

it's hard to describe Charlie if you haven't witnessed it - the atmosphere is fully charged - and not in a good way. You are just waiting for when it will kick off: and when it does, it is in the most brutal of ways: with NO ONE being given exception.

It is the most intimidating, threatning situation. And rather than getting 'better' - it seems to get worse with each passing year.

Bigotry exists on both sides: and it's those ones that incite - nay, thrive on this type of thing - as it is nothing more than an excuse for serious rammies to kick off. It's horrible.

I'm no 'wallflower' type - as everyone on here knows... I'm a bolshy mare - but even this: scares the hell out of me.

Hibs are playing our arch Edinburgh Rivals Hearts, on the 27th August. I solely have came up with the plan of us starting a march/corteo from Easter Road Stadium, to Tynecastle Stadium. But the Haymarket, Roseburn etc route, there is no Jambos there on derby day, so is completely safe and will avoid any trouble. But I'm being told by fellow Hibbys that if I approach the Police first then I will get knocked back.

If I get knocked back for a march to Tynecastle, with a safe route I have already planned out. Yet they let they ****ty Orange/HIBS walks go ahead that are out to cause trouble, I'll be well and truly raged.

I have to agree - but if you do approach for consent - it would be interesting to perhaps come back on this thread to update?

The Police / Protestant connection - in Scotland (and certainly the west of scotland) - still is very prevailant - despite what they would like us all to believe.

I think the Hibbees..... that's a different slant - and I'd hate to think this kind of nonsense would hit the East side too..... but I've learned in life, never to be surprised.

Yeah I shall do, I am going to clearly state to them that we are Ultras, not Hooligans looking for trouble, if I wanted that then I would go the Gorgie route, past Robbo's bar where the so called 'CSF' will be asking for bother.

I'm doing it for pre-match atmosphere, get everyone fired up for it, and then carry that on into the ground so our end is near-full 30 mins before kick-off and we outsing them.

Hearts have lowered themselves into basically being a mini Rangers, with their UJ and Red Hand of Ulster flags, singing Rule Britannia, GSTQ and No Pope of Rome. But I honestly think our whole support are better than to resort to that rubbish.

I didn't realise they did those in Scotland too, I thought it was only Northern Ireland. Personally, I think anything like that, that's purpose seems to be to antagonise people is bad and shouldn't be allowed.

I'm not a footie fan - didn't realise this: and it's sad to hear. The bit that really 'gets me' - is that it IS, in most cases, the minority who completely tar the rest with the same brush.

Yep....... those who are 'interested', the whole social summer calendar is geared up and around the big walk......

hours later and I am now utterly sick of banging drums, flutes ruining what otherwise would be a gorgeous, sunny, peaceful Satruday afternoon- and anyone in their right minds are not venturing far - as the whole place is at a standstill.

hope they all suffer serious sunburn.
