how i'm feeling now
|
Both Alex and Jay use the word "us" instead of "me" like "She won't even talk to us" when they are referring to themselves not a group of people yet other times they randomly also use "me". I know it's like a Geordie thing but can someone please explain? I don't get it.

It's just a local dialect thing. No real explanation.

I have always noticed it from the Geordie people. And since I am not from here, it always made me dislike them. Because to me, speaking about yourself in the third person, is a sign of arrogance. I didnt know it was a regional thing. I noticed it first with Liam in BB8. Couldnt stand him. Then it was Jen in BB9. Couldnt stand him either. BUt now I know why they do it, so I dont judge them by it anymore.
I have no idea where it comes from though, or why!

Totally a dialect thing, same as when they speak of another family member as "wur" (our) so-and-so!

It started creeping into the local dialect in the second half of the Nineteenth Century probably due to the large increase in Irish in the area.

Hi, newbie here. I just have to comment on this as I speak the same lingo. They are not saying 'us', they are saying ' iz ' as in 'give it to iz'. It means me.
If we want to say 'us' we would say 'us' just like normal people.lol. |

I like Alex. I haven't got a bad word to say about her. She's not fake at least.
