Default why does big brother fail to atract viewers?

I don't get it ino people say it because of live feed, but what ever happend to the 4m that used to watch it? Why did they all turn off?

And what happens to the 1m+ that watch CBB but don't bother to tune into clasic bb? Just sad to see that the ratings are sinking :/

Its because the producers are high on personal promotion and low on ideas. More simply put, they are sh.te at their jobs and care not a jot if we complain or moan, they are a lwaw unto themselves.

Because it's ****ing horrendous these days perhaps ?
Channel 4 were getting progressively worse with each series towards the end and now Channel 5 has just smashed the arse out of it completely.

The whole premise of Big Brother was that Big Brother was in total control but they just let them do what the **** they want now with no rules or punishments whatsoever.
On top of that the tasks and general production values of the show are appaling too. There's just very little to keep people interested and watching any more!

I reckon they need a revamp, new set, new house layout, new everything. It's just a little tacky on C5 and people won't give it a go unless they think it's worth tuning in for.

It is cheap, trashy and nasty just like their target audience.
The viewing figures are only inflated by stubborn fans of the show refusing to give up on it but it is wearing thin! if it continues in the same vein its only competition will be geordie shore or some other equally retarded set of orange messes.

Definitely, most of the time when Big Brother is reported and stuff, lots of folk are like 'this show is still on? let it die already' etc.

The great housemates are voted off and the nonsense ones win thanks to tweenies voting power, forums are full of teenage boys posting nonsense too and disagreeing vehemently to other forum members threads , gives the whole thing a bad name.

Im certain waterhog and his awful poems have turned a few hundred away, he nearly got me but I took a deep breath and went to my happy place.

I feel like it's not marketed to appeal to the majority, and is aimed at an adolescent audience for the most part which is a shame really. That's possibly one of the reasons why CBB gets better ratings because the housemates are generally older and more age-representative.

Before someone says "whats the forum got to do with viewing figures" if you dont know I really cant be bothered to explain , in a few years you might just get it.

Stale format, wrong choice of housemates, chavy feel thanks to the evction crowd and a lack of promotion. I think the poster who said it needs a revamp is correct. To get back viewers the show needs a new set/ house location, new presenter, new rules, larger prize fund, different housemates. How about a more intelligent, professional, older cast a bit like the people they get on the apprentice-seeing as Aaron was in that group and was so popular last year. Its time to forget the Ch4 days and evolve the show it wasnt popular at the end of its life on Ch4 so why would the smae format on Ch5 be any different?

Its because people were sick of the freaks Channel 4 were putting in. It was entertaining in BB5 to BB7 but after that i think people wanted normal people who wernt just seeking super stardom anymore.

People got tired of housemates going in there just for fame and thinking that they deserved it.

Back in the day the public enjoyed seeing normal people becoming a success after the show.

CBB5 did kill it.

BB12 was good. Deserved better ratings.

This year is getting what it deserves. Nasty rather than fun.

If BB 12/ 13 continued on C4 (same shows) it would get larger ratings/ more viewers.

C5 is inherantly a low viewer channel. A lot of people have never watched a show on C5. If Eastenders, Corrie, X-Factor (all huge shows) were all on C5 they'd struggle to get past 1m mark.

In early to mid 2000s there was something known as an ITV1 viewer ie people who literally never changed channel and only watched ITV1 (it's as if they don't know other channels exist) that's why ITV used to give golden handcuff drama deals to Robson Green, David Jason, Sara Lancashire, Martin Clunes etc. Thankfully this less the case now.

All the top shows on C5 are middle aged blokey TV eg Ice Road Truckers, Salmond Fishing or Eddie Stobbarts Truckers or US police procedurals ie NCIS, Law & Order, CSI, CSI: New York, CSI: Miami, CSI: Vegas etc. However alot of people don't enjoy US police procedurals so just associate C5 with his genre and don't bother to switch

BB being on C5 meants it is now part of the Richard Desmond media empire (C5, Daily Star, Express, OK! Star mag) so the rest of the media ignore the show unless there is controversy or bad PR e.g. Conor's rapey rant. BB last year got hardly any non-Desmond coverage. Aaron's win was a footnote in The Sun.

Gone are the days of late Jade Goody getting an initial £300K to sell her incredible back story (bisexual one-armed mother, child hood drug taking, jail bird late dad, feckless boyfriend, torrid times in Bermondsey, dental nurse struggles etc, racism etc). Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon admitted to collecting a Jade Goody scrapbook and when challenged on her knowledge of Jade by an interviewer actually knew a scary amount. Jade for all her lack of intelligence had an aura and a charisma that extended beyond the show and kept her in the spot light for years after she was evicted and up to and after her death.

For bigger ratings they need to invite intriguing pseudo tabloid/ media characters like Benedict ie porn teacher onto the show. He was the only one who interested the Sun, Mail and Mirror on launch night and got the show non-Desmond coverage.

The big BB show is now CBB (I prefer this regular version) as the HMs are usually media fodder eg Frankie Cocozza, Denise Welch and Amy Childs so the Sun will take a spurious interest, and therefore larger ratings.

BB is now essentially a spin off or warm up for the big event - CBB. C5 doesn't have too many homegrown hits so now it has 2 CBBs a year to cash in on deent ratings.

Yes I agree they need a new house!

They need to make a big advertsing camplaigne showing a really evil bb (like bb5) and make the night an event like black friday - that braught back veiwers when they switched off from bb4!

People like watching the evil bb! Just proves it when people tune into I'm a celeb!
